Investing in a younger generation
5 Nov 2024
At Jaguar we are committed to investing in a new generation and we are proud members of The 5% Club.
The 5% Club helps employers increase their earn and learn opportunities by aiming to have 5% of their workforce in these positions. Whether individuals join as apprentices or have transitioned into these roles through our ‘Retrain’ admin-to-apprentice initiative, our goal is to train young people to become specialists.
We currently have 25 apprentices, with a few nearing their graduation to become qualified Electrical Engineers.
Our apprentices go on to do big things within Jaguar and continue growing, with one of our former apprentices, Sam Broomfield, becoming a Lead Engineer.
Each year we have an intake of new apprentices and in September, we welcomed nine new members to the team – one more than last year – all of whom have successfully integrated into their respective sites and have finished their first half-term at college.
Roger Starling, Business Unit Head, said:
“It’s great to see this year’s intake of new apprentices and how wonderfully they have settled into their new roles and their college course at New City College, who we are working with for the third year now.
We had many applications this year, so I also want to share my appreciation to Emma Ralley for organising the 25 plus interviews, shortlisting, arranging parent introductions and final offer paperwork. It’s amazing to see so many budding young people wanting to work in the M&E industry.”
